Right Now Group are working with a Global Forwarder stationed in Birmingham, assisting them in their search for an Ocean Support Operator. This person will be tasked to join their already thriving Ocean Department, and provide assistance with operations. The ideal candidate will have a background in Ocean Operations, and at least 2 years operating in a fast-paced freight forwarder.Responsibilities:
- Receive customer quotations via varying methods - email / online portal etc
- To cover Ocean - Imports / Exports / Cross Trade
- Negotiate rates with carriers / hauliers / suppliers and confirm availability of equipment and agree prices where no tariff exists, to maximise cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare and submit customer quotations and proposals within agreed timeframe
- Work within our in-house system to create and issue quotations
- Communicate with customers to manage and follow up all quotes to obtain feedback to measure, analyse and circulate to the relevant teams, adjusting pricing where possible to ensure we secure opportunities.
- Track success/failure rate of quotes, reporting back to management
- Develop and build relationships and provide the highest level of customer service to all customers
Requirements:
- 2 Years Ocean Freight Experience
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of Ocean Freight Operations
- Clear and concise communication skills
