Job Overview

As an Electrically biased engineer you will be able to work alongside the lead engineer and independently. You will manage all aspects of electrical and building maintenance, conduct regular inspections, schedule routine and reactive maintenance, improve energy efficiency and liaise and instruct subcontractors. You will have a deep understanding of electrical and smart building control systems, knowledge of current safety regulations, a strong problem-solving acumen and exceptional communication skills.



Roles & Responsibilities

Working with the management team, in line with company directives and client needs; the role of the

Electrically Bias Engineer is an essential role and encompasses the following core responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Assisting with ensuring the company delivers a safe, customer focused, efficient, and compliant service to meet its contractual, financial and legal obligations.
  • Support management and the lead engineer in the leading, managing, and supervising day-to-day engineering activities to ensure seamless coordination with stakeholders, to achieve punctual, practical, and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Proactively ensure the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks are carried out as per SFG20 or data led equivalent standards, updating, and maintaining all records and assets as necessary, and in accordance with the contract, and in line with company and compliance requirements. Ensure the quality and accuracy of records are maintained; promptly addressing any issues.
  • Alongside and in the absence of the lead engineer, ensure all engineering reactive tasks are logged, tracked, closed or updated before the end of each day. Proactively monitor the quality of repairs and ensure completion within a timely manner, in keeping with agreed SLA's and to the highest standard.
  • In conjunction with the lead engineer. ensure duties are performed efficiently and safely including but not limited to:
    • Undertaking and managing minor installation tasks including minor projects related to power supply, lighting, power distribution, etc.
    • Understand, analyse, and improve complex electrical systems / circuits; diagnosis and repair of electrical problems in electrical systems, including fault-finding, system documentation, and parts ordering.
    • Maintaining and updating day-to-day requirements on the BMS, UPS, intelligent lighting, and other integrated electrical SMART control systems including fault-finding, system documentation, and parts ordering.
    • Ensure safe isolations including LOTO, proving systems are in line with electrical procedure(s) including isolating and installation from a 'Live' supply, where necessary.
    • Carry out PAT testing and other test and inspection repairs or alterations.
    • Maintaining high levels of housekeeping in plant areas, workshops, stores, changing / rest areas, etc.
    • To engage in the Continuous Improvement Process that is an integral part of service delivery, increasingly adding value to both the business and our client.
    • Ensure appropriate risk assessments are completed for all tasks and are reviewed regularly.
    • Liaise with suppliers obtaining quotations and creating quotations on the system via the Administration Assistant.
    • Awareness of the monthly reporting systems to include KPI's / daily logs and incident reports.

  • Ensure the accurate compilation and timely distribution of requested and assigned reports, for example, daily plant checks, reports and outstanding jobs (eLog books, shared drive) as directed.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, health, safety and environmental standards are upheld at all times. Proactively and routinely complete and record quality assurance audits on all documentation, and address any actions required.
  • Review RAMS, raise relevant permits and ensure site inductions have been completed and signed off. Inspect all work before closing work permits. Records should always be maintained, filed in the agreed documentation locations (i.e. Elog books, shared drive) for auditing and review.
  • Manage the escorting / supervision of sub-contractors and support the activity of specialist service partners, delivering services on behalf of the company; ensuring all health, safety and environmental requirements are adhered to, including, but not limited to, ensuring adequate safe systems of works are adhered to, complete task specific risk assessments when required and carry out Point of Work risk assessments for all activities.
  • Manage and be the lead for technical support, where required, to the client and engineering team. Escalating to the lead engineer for more complex issues, where necessary.
  • To have a flexible approach when the need arises.
  • Be available to respond promptly to emergency callouts and requests. Maintaining a flexible approach to start and finish times to fit in with business demands.
  • The role is site based.

  • Uniform, safety shoes and appropriate PPE must be worn at all times, as per risk assessment, any task or as directed.
  • Ensure all Human-Focus and H&S awareness training programs are completed in a timely manner and maintain currency.

Qualifications &Technical skills


C&G Level 3 Electrical engineering qualified (multiskilled capability)

NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installations (City & Guilds 2357)

18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018)

IOSH Managing Safely awareness qualified

* Desire to become HV LV AP on site

* First Aid at Work qualified


Experience & knowledge


ESSENTIAL


Proven experience in electrical maintenance and repair within a SMART building services environment.


Preferred experience in working with and meeting contract KPIs' / SLA's.


Good working experience and IT literate with strong skills in using MS Office suite, CAFM / IT systems.


Ability to work independently or as part of a team.


Experience of working within a client facing environment.


Customer focused with a proactive, 'can do' attitude.


Smartness in appearance and punctuality.


Detail orientated, numerate and accurate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
