Mechanical Assembly Engineer required to build automation machines - factory automation machines vary in complexity and includes robots, sensors, lasers and fabricated parts.
Applicants should be apprentice trained in mechanical engineering with experience in mechanical assembly ideally in machinery assembly or mechanical fitter, toolmaker, CNC machinist or similar engineering discipline.
Applicants must already live in Birmingham. Sponsorship is not possible.
The Role
To assemble and build special purpose machines and robotic systems.
- Build and assemble machines working to written specifications, CAD drawings, build manual, and supplied kits
- Review designs with Project Leaders and Designers
- Manufacture machine supports and guard frames from "aluminium Extrusion"
- Fabricate and machine items such as brackets or tooling
- Build pneumatic assemblies
- Run up and commission machines, verify that the machine works correctly.
- Demonstrate to the customer
- Feedback modifications made during the build and machine commissioning phase.
- Help to solve mechanical problems
8 hours per day - (07:30 - 16:00) Monday to Thursday
5.5 hours (07:30 - 13:00) Friday
Requirements
- Apprentice trained mechanical engineer; mechanical fitter, toolmaker, mechanical assembler, fabricator, tooling engineer
- Likely to have worked for a similar company e.g. packaging machinery, food processing machinery, materials handling, conveyors, special purpose machines, CNC machines building etc..
- City & Guilds level 3 or HNC/HND level
- Possess machining skills (lathe, milling machine, grinding machine)
- Experience to marking up, drilling, tapping, machining, measuring, cutting, and assembling.
Salary
- 30K - 40K depending on experience
