Are you an experienced Design Manager looking to take on a pivotal role within a high-profile joint venture in the water industry? Our client, a collaboration between two leading contractors, is seeking a skilled Design Manager to lead multi-disciplinary design teams on critical water infrastructure projects within the Severn Trent region.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall design process for water infrastructure projects, ensuring that all designs meet client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead a team of engineers and designers from various disciplines, including civil, mechanical, and electrical, to deliver integrated project designs.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and timely project delivery.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Review and approve design submissions, ensuring they are technically sound and compliant with Severn Trent framework requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and resolve design challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure that design milestones are met on time and within budget, while maintaining a focus on quality and safety.
  • Engage in regular client and stakeholder meetings to communicate design progress and address any concerns.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers within the team.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Design Manager or senior design professional, ideally within the water sector or related infrastructure industries.
  • Strong understanding of design processes and best practices across multiple engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical).
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple design teams and deliver complex projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to lead teams and collaborate with clients and stakeholders.
  • Relevant qualifications in engineering or design management (e.g., BEng/MEng in a relevant engineering discipline).
  • Familiarity with the Severn Trent Framework or similar utility frameworks is highly desirable.
