Job Title: Commercial Trading Analyst
Up to £40K plus benefits
About the role
Our Commercial Analyst reports on the commercial revenue and associated trends on an adhoc, weekly and monthly basis, develops quarterly forecasts and annual budgets, collates the longer term commercial business plan and evaluates new business opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the continuing growth of revenues, encompassing all Commercial categories.
- Build relationships with new and existing external and internal commercial business partners in order to understand drivers for commercial performance.
- To carry out variance and trend analyses on actual sales and revenue performance versus budget, forecast, business plan and contracted minimum guarantees.
- To assist in gathering of information to enable the commercial department’s long and medium term financial planning including preparation for the submission of the annual budgets, forecasts and sensitivity analysis.
- Maintenance, inputting and development of the commercial databases.
- Be the point of contact for commercial partner organisations in regard to forecasts and other associated financial evaluations.
- To prepare commercial reports, summaries and presentations for the Executive Board and shareholders as required.
- To collate and prepare reports comparing commercial performance with recognised industry benchmarks.
- To liaise and build up a close and supportive relationship with the Finance team.
- To become the Company’s recognised expert in commercial financial management.
KNOWLEDGE
- Benchmarking techniques in order to compare the Company’s performance.
- Knowledge of statistical concepts, excel graph creation, trend analysis techniques, performance indicators and their usage in business planning.
- A working knowledge of data based computer systems, for both financial and analysis requirements.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES
- Computer literacy in Microsoft packages including a high level of expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Power BI (or a similar data visualisation tool).
- Written communication skills for producing high quality management/board summaries and presentations.
- Verbal and interpersonal skills for communication with internal and external contacts at all levels, both face to face and by email.
- The ability to use own initiative as well as a methodical approach to problem solving.
- Ability to contribute towards a small team and carry out various tasks and be able to contribute effectively in concession reviews.
- Produce timely and accurate data for use in business review meetings.
- The ability to interrogate the commercial database and dwell time analysis, extracting the appropriate information and providing trend analyses.
- The ability to work under tight time constraints and produce accurate reports.
EXPERIENCE
- Previous financial or business background, including relevant experience in preparing financial reports using accountancy practices, methodology and practical analytical experience.
- Experience in dealing with internal and external contacts at a senior level.
- Experience in problem solving and use of initiative.
