Our client, a leading organisation within the power utilities and energy sector, is seeking an experienced Appointed Person to join their team. This key position supports high voltage operations across power distribution and renewable energy projects, with a strong emphasis on lifting operations, temporary works coordination, and site safety. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring safe systems of work and the reliable delivery of critical infrastructure across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety leadership: Ensure all lifting operations are carried out safely and in line with National Grid, BS 7121, and wider industry safety standards
  • Planning and coordination: Develop, assess, and authorise lift plans, method statements, and risk assessments for complex or high-risk operations
  • Work control: Manage safe systems of work, coordinating closely with site managers, crane supervisors, and contractors to avoid risk near live infrastructure
  • Technical assurance: Ensure lifting activities comply with technical standards and relevant legislation, including LOLER and the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (ESQCR)
  • Stakeholder communication: Act as a central point of contact between National Grid, principal contractors, and stakeholders during planning and delivery
  • Compliance and review: Conduct site audits, inspections, and reviews, ensuring accurate reporting of any non-conformances or incidents

Job Requirements:

  • CPCS or NPORS Appointed Person Ticket (A61 or equivalent)
  • Experience in managing lifting operations within high voltage environments (132kV-400kV preferred)
  • Background in temporary works coordination
  • Sound knowledge of power utilities, distribution networks, and renewables projects
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Flexibility to travel and work across sites throughout the UK
  • CSCS card and SMSTS certification
