Job Summary:

Venn Group are seeking a skilled and proactive Caretaker/Site Manager with experience in school or college environments to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the general maintenance of the school site, ensuring that it remains safe, secure, and in good working order. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an environment dedicated to excellence and providing high-quality education to students.

Location: Birmingham Contract: Temp ongoing 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day maintenance of the site premises, including classrooms, corridors, toilets, and outdoor areas
  • Ensure the site is secure at all times, including locking/unlocking of premises and monitoring of security systems
  • Undertake regular checks on heating, lighting, plumbing, and general building systems to ensure they are functioning correctly
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) and report any issues to the Regional Facilities Manager
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general handyman duties
  • Ensure the site is prepared for events and activities, including setting up furniture and equipment as required
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers for any major repairs or projects
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and procedures, including reporting hazards and risks
  • Maintain and manage the cleaning and maintenance supplies

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Caretaker, Site Manager, or Facilities Manager in a school or college environment
  • Knowledge and experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Strong basic trade skills (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, painting)
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations in an educational setting
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Enhanced DBS (ideally on the updates service)
