Our client, a market-leading organisation operating within a dynamic and regulated sector, is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Head of Internal Control in Birmingham. This Head of Internal Control role offers the opportunity to shape and lead the company's risk management and compliance framework while ensuring robust internal controls are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an effective internal control framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Lead the enterprise risk management strategy, identifying key risks and ensuring appropriate mitigation plans are in place.
- Oversee compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Establish and maintain a strong governance culture through effective policies, procedures, and staff training.
- Lead and manage a dedicated team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Act as a key advisor to senior management and the board on risk, compliance, and internal control matters.
- Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies, ensuring transparent and proactive engagement.
Key Requirements
- A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Significant experience in risk management, compliance, and internal controls within a regulated environment.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and developing teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Analytical mindset with a results-driven approach.
- Degree in accountancy, economics or business.
