We are currently looking for candidates to join their teams on a full-time, temporary basis. Being the largest leading local authority in the whole of Europe, Birmingham City Council are renowned for their expertise in public services and endless opportunities.Your new roleAs a Complex Case Officer, you will carry out full inspections of private sector properties and undertake appropriate action where necessary. This will be predominately in relation to the Housing Act 2004 utilising the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and licensing conditions to evidence breaches. You will be expected to undertake inspections of properties under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), housing, licensing, and public health legislation as well as prepare and issue work schedules required to bring properties up to standard and monitor compliance within relevant legislation whilst carrying out regular case reviews and be responsible for prosecutions, appeals or default actions, civil penalty notices.You will launch investigations into unlicensed properties, and conduct the service and enforcement of legal notices under a range of legislation including the housing act, Antisocial behaviour crime and policing act, prevention of damage by pests act etc.What you'll need to succeedYou will need a full clean UK driving license and access to your own vehicle, as well as business insurance added as part of your insurance policy. A strong knowledge or qualification in HHSRS (Housing Health & Safety Rating System) with a depth of experience around this. You should have prior experience as a Complex Case Officer, Enforcement Officer, EHO or a senior member of staff within Social Housing with knowledge and practice in this field. You will need knowledge of Legislation and Part 6 and 7 of the Housing Act. Before starting, you will need to pass your reference and compliance checks.
