Customer Engagement Consultant

Job Summary

This is an exciting time for Babington as we evolve our Customer Engagement strategy and structure to ensure we’re in the best shape for the future.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Customer Engagement and the wider Customer Engagement team, focusing on developing Babington's existing relationships and identifying, engaging and winning new business opportunities to ensure our continued growth.

As such you’ll be an experienced sales professional / account manager who understands and holds funded learning experience and will be aligned to the Public Sector markets.

You’ll work to become a ‘trusted advisor’ focused on maximising our Apprenticeship and Commercial Training revenue through a solution-based and consultative sales approach. Developing relationships and influencing at a senior level, partnering with internal and external stakeholders and meeting your sales targets and KPI’s.

Required Competencies and Responsibilities

  • Customer Relationship Building: You will be responsible for and therefore require proven experience building robust relationships and will be responsible for transitioning this experience to allow you to become our customers ‘trusted advisor.’ You will have a depth of understanding of all Babington programmes and solutions and will be confident to recommend the appropriate solutions which meet the customer's needs and generate solid pipeline of business.
  • Customer Retention: You will be adept at retaining existing customers by using proven and appropriate questioning and insight, understanding your customers  challenges and needs and operating closely with your customer enabling you to identify any early signs of concern/dissatisfaction.
  • Networking: You will identify opportunities for Babington to participate in industry events, conferences and networking opportunities and develop your relationships with industry peers and prospective customers developing your profile as a subject matter expert both internally and externally.
  • Proposal Development: You will be responsible for engaging and collaborating in extensive discussions with customers to understand their pain points and desired outcomes, gathering relevant information to ensure all Babington proposals address key customer requirements, align with their expectations and resolve any issues which may prevent successful delivery.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of consistently meeting or exceeding targets & KPI's.
  • Minimum of 12 months’ proven experience managing customer accounts, with the responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction, and account growth through repeat business and/or new programmes and services.
  • Minimum of 12 months’ proven work experience with the ability to demonstrate competence in business development, sales or account management role.
  • Minimum of 12 months previous experience communicating, establishing, engaging and influencing a wide set of key customer stakeholders.
  • A good understanding of the UK apprenticeship landscape, including funding, standards, and regulatory requirements. You will be able to demonstrate your previous proven experience supporting customers to implement apprenticeships, within the Public Sector markets.
  • Proficient in using a CRM package to record and manage all customer interactions and sales activities.
  • We are a national business and so are most of our customers. You’ll have a full driving licence and be comfortable spending 2 - 4 days a week traveling to spend time with customers.
