My clients a well established freight forwarder based within the Birmingham area, seeking professional and experienced Route development manager to focus on the Middle East, Africa and India.

Duties would include:

  • Accountable for the profitable growth of the trade
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow volumes on assigned trade lane in Ocean (FCL & LCL) and Air.
  • Drive volume growth and new business opportunities through a combination of direct sales activity from own customer portfolio (qualification to closure) and support to Business Development and Key Account teams as subject matter expert for your trades.
  • Develop and maintain joint pipeline
  • To work closely with Trade and Pricing teams, exchanging market intelligence and ensuring rate competitiveness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key overseas partners in selected markets.
  • Act as the main point of contact for partners, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
  • Travel regularly to assigned trade area to increase market understanding and knowledge, meet existing and prospective customers and develop deeper relationships with key partners.
  • Lead or contribute to initiatives aimed at improving performance, exploring new trade opportunities, or enhancing partner relations.
  • To stay update with trends and market

Skills needed:

  • Minimum 5 years+ experienec within a simailar role
  • Route developement experience for either the Middle East, Africa or India,
  • Industry knowledge of Freight
  • Proven track record in new business development
  • Outstanding customer service skills
