Our client, based in Birmingham, UK is seeking an experienced Route Development Manager to enhance their operations within this vibrant sector. This permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on developing new business channels and optimizing existing ones.Responsibilities:

  • Building strong relationships with carriers and clients to expand route opportunities.
  • Conducting market research to identify growth areas within the logistics services field.
  • Creating strategies that increase efficiency while maintaining quality service levels.

Route Development:

  • Take ownership of the profitable growth of the assigned trade lane.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow volumes in ocean and air freight.
  • Drive volume growth through direct sales from your customer portfolio and support Business Development and Key Account teams as a trade expert.
  • Build joint pipelines with key partners to identify and pursue new opportunities.
  • Work closely with Trade and Pricing teams to share market intelligence and ensure competitive pricing.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key overseas partners.
  • Act as the main point of contact for trade partners, ensuring alignment and effective communication.
  • Conduct regular travel to the assigned trade region to deepen market knowledge, meet clients, and strengthen partner relationships.

Commercial Strategy & Growth:

  • Collaborate with commercial teams to create marketing materials for assigned trade lanes.
  • Monitor trade performance and provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscapes, and market conditions, sharing insights with stakeholders.
  • Lead or contribute to initiatives to improve trade performance, explore new opportunities, or enhance partner relations.

To succeed as our Route Development Manager:You should have proven experience in:

  • Market Analysis: Gauging potential avenues of expansion by interpreting trade flows and trends,
  • Business Acumen:Understanding customer needs deeply enough so as not only meet but exceed them,
  • Negotiation Skills: Effectively discussing terms with partners or customers can mean better deals - both bought & sold,
