Sales Manager – Packaging Machinery
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 basic
On-Target Earnings: £80,000 – £90,000
Benefits: 25 days holiday, car allowance, pension, and additional benefits
Location: Central UK (flexible, with good motorway access)
We are seeking a proactive and driven Sales Manager with a hunter mentality to join a market-leading manufacturer of production inspection machinery. Specialising in equipment such as checkweighers and metal detection systems, the company serves the food manufacturing sector, particularly blue-chip end-user food factories. Individual machine values range from £20,000 to £50,000.
This role offers a balanced mix of 50% account management and 50% new business development. You will be expected to generate new opportunities through the existing CRM system as well as your own professional network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relationships with existing accounts
- Target companies with Capex spends for machinery
- Identify and close new business opportunities
- Prospect new customers
- Navigate complex sales cycles, often taking several months
- Use CRM tools effectively to manage the sales pipeline
- Represent a globally respected UK-based manufacturer with 100 employees
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in packaging machinery or capital equipment sales, ideally into the food manufacturing sector
- Demonstrated longevity in previous roles, showing commitment and consistent performance
- Proven ability to sell high-value capital equipment and close long-cycle deals
- Strong new business development skills and a self-starting mentality
- Based centrally in the UK with access to major motorway networks
- Comfortable working independently while representing a global market leader
- Willing to travel to customers sites UK wide
- A driven go getter that is commission hungry
- Technically minded
