Role: Electrical Project Engineer
Sector: Solar PV and Battery Storage
Location: A choice of multiple offices across the UK (UK travel will be part of the role)
Salary: Competitive + Car Allowance + 25% Bonus

This hybrid role will require UK site work, some overseas travel for Equipment FATs, and the opportunity to work from home.

My client is the UK's leading generator of low-carbon power from Bio energy, additionally they have an exciting growth strategy within the Solar PV and Battery storage sectors. The business aims to have over 1GW of Solar + BESS assets constructed and under management by 2030.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity for a talented Electrical Project Engineer to contribute to innovative projects in the renewable energy sector. You will provide design, installation, and commissioning expertise to their in-house construction team and EPC contractors to deliver their 1GW pipeline of Solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects that range from 5MW to 70MW.

You will be capable of designing solutions, reviewing system designs, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project technical compliance and timely delivery. This hands-on role will require excellent communication and influencing skills, the ability to analyse and resolve problems, and a proven history of leading multiple projects, documenting, planning, and executing programs.

Duties:

- Specification of up-front project electrical requirements across solar and energy storage systems review and approval of submitted designs
- Ensure standardisation of design, equipment and approach across projects and contractors
- On-site inspections and factory witness testing to ensure electrical Design/build is as per specification/design
- Review of as-built drawings at project completion to ensure accuracy and completeness, and are handed over in the correct format
- Review energisation plans & procedures produced by the EPC and its contractors
- Full commission of all equipment with Electrical Responsibility and Safety Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality at the forefront of all decisions and actions
- Site inspections to ensure specification and build are to expected standards
- Oversee electrical handover into operations
- Create commissioning checklists for new systems and ensure all aspects of the project are delivered on time and within scope.
- Capturing and incorporating lessons learned into future projects

Qualifications & Skills 

- Degree / HND qualified (or equivalent) in an electrical engineering discipline
- Demonstratable expertise in Low Voltage and High Voltage systems with specific knowledge of equipment utilised in large-scale solar and energy storage systems
- Project Engineering experience working on larger projects
- Experience working in a safety-driven comparable industry, ideally power generation or a related utility or similar organisation
- Challenging Costs, Technical solutions and Schedules to drive the project forward
- A flexible approach to work, both in terms of geographical location and, at times, putting in additional hours to satisfy key business objectives
