Bennett and Game are currently working with a leading consultancy who take pride in offering a fully integrated approach to Transport Planning and Highways Design. With established offices in Gateshead and Fleet, they are expanding to Birmingham, strengthening their ability to serve public and private sector clients, including major UK developers.

Our client is seeking an experienced Principal Highways Design Engineer to join our Birmingham team. In this role, you will manage the design process for various projects, ensuring timely, high-quality designs that meet budgetary and client needs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver designs within programme and budget.
  • Manage resources and ensure efficient task allocation.
  • Oversee project budgets, ensuring financial accountability.
  • Serve as the main contact for clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure designs comply with MCHW, DMRB, and relevant guidelines.
  • Check and authorise design information and reports.
  • Collaborate with Milestone's Senior Management on projects across offices.
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong management skills and ability to oversee a varied workload.
  • Solid technical skills and experience in highway design environments.
  • Proven project management of highway projects.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising design staff.
  • Working knowledge of DMRB, Civils 3D, and MicroDrainage software.
  • Experience developing highway contracts and dealing with technical issues at a senior level.
  • Chartered Engineer status (preferred).
  • UK driving licence.
