About the Role:As a Section Engineer at Balfour Beatty, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing a section of works, including Bridges, Highways, and other civil structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management:Lead and coordinate a team of Site Engineers, Supervisors, and Subcontractors to ensure the efficient delivery of projects.
- Project Oversight: Manage a section of works, ensuring all engineering requirements are met within the construction programme.
- Quality Control: Ensure Inspection and Test Plans and Quality Check Sheets are completed promptly, maintaining the highest standards of quality.
- Task Allocation: Allocate tasks to Site Engineers and supervise task completion to ensure projects meet deadlines.
- Documentation & Procedures: Oversee document control, ensuring effective distribution of information. Develop and approve procedures for specific areas of work.
- Risk Management: Approve and monitor method statements and risk assessments, ensuring compliance throughout the duration of the project.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other Section Engineers, Foremen, and internal teams to resolve any on-site issues or clashes to ensure smooth workflow.
- Site Inspections & Drawings: Ensure accurate setting out by Site Engineers and ensure design drawings are marked up to reflect completed work.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Degree-level qualification in Civil Engineering or a related subject (HND in Civil Engineering will also be considered).
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Section Engineer on civil engineering projects.
- SMSTS certification
- CSCS Card
- Proven ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience working with a Permit System and ability to actively raise permits to work.
- Basic environmental awareness in construction practices.
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures and quality control processes.
- Manual driving license required for site access in company cars/vans
