Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Civil Engineering Estimator with a strong background in groundworks and surfacing to join their dynamic team. This role is integral to the success of our projects, requiring expertise in cost estimation, risk management, and bid preparation for civil engineering contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for groundworks and surfacing projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Tender Preparation: Develop and submit competitive tenders for projects in the public and private sectors.
- Contract Review: Analyze project specifications, designs, and client requirements to ensure compliance and alignment with company capabilities.
- Market Analysis: Maintain awareness of market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier options to ensure cost efficiency and competitiveness.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the project management, procurement, and operations teams to ensure alignment between estimates and project execution.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks in project delivery and propose mitigation strategies during the estimation phase.
- Client Liaison: Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and transparent process.
- Reporting: Prepare and present detailed cost reports and bid documentation to senior management for approval.
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator in the civil engineering sector, with a focus on groundworks and surfacing projects.
- Proven ability to manage the full estimation process, from initial inquiry to submission.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering processes, techniques, and materials specific to groundworks and surfacing.
- Familiarity with relevant software tools for cost estimation and project planning (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, or similar).
- Excellent analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field are desirable.
