Overview:

This client is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with a background in civil engineering, particularly in roads, utilities, and groundworks. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for overseeing engineering activities, including setting out works and managing a team of engineers to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will possess tier two experience and have a proven track record in site engineering, particularly in the civil engineering discipline, with a focus on roadworks, utility installations, and groundworks. They will take a hands-on approach to this direct delivery model project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, ensuring project objectives and deadlines are met.
  • Your time will mostly be spent managing and checking work completed by your team of Engineers, and co-ordinating, checking designs and completing lookaheads.
  • You may occasionally have to perform setting out duties on-site, ensuring all work aligns with project specifications and design requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and site teams.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee quality control and conduct inspections to ensure work meets industry standards.
  • Work closely with project managers, site managers, and other key stakeholders to coordinate site activities.
  • Maintain accurate site records, reports, and documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Civil Engineering with a focus on roads, utilities, and groundworks on major infrastructure projects or transferable projects.
    • Demonstrable experience in a tier two contractor role, managing site activities on similar-scale projects.
    • A degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
    • Proficient in using surveying equipment, setting out tools, and relevant software such as AutoCAD, and project management tools.
    • Thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations and practices.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders including project managers, subcontractors, and other engineers.
    • Ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to the project.
    • Based in the Midlands with the most Northern site being Lichfield and most Southern Kenilworth.
    • Proficiency in using AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software.
    • CSCS and SMSTS
