Associate Building Surveyor

We are looking for an experienced, competent, technically proficient, enthusiastic, organised, motivational, and motivated project-building surveyor, who is extensively experienced in designing and delivering complex and challenging capital projects.

The candidate will have solid experience being a focal point in the team, reporting to the Director of Building Surveying, you will be required to support with the management of the team, checking team output for technical compliance and company quality standards, as well as supporting with the development of fee proposals and client account management.

With an estimated 40/60 split of team management and project delivery, you will enjoy a high-quality and diverse range of instructions. The focus of instructions will be on the design and contract administration of new build, extension, refurbishment, and elemental renewal building projects.

Your duties will include:

  • Ensure adherence to the company's processes, technical and behavioural standards.
  • Ensure the quality assurance of the team's technical output.
  • Be a fully committed and positive member of the management and technical team.
  • Be initiative-taking and motivational to all members of the team.
  • Support with problem-solving within the team.
  • Develop and maintain good client relations and be responsible for the management of several client's accounts.
  • Support with and prepare fee proposals and set up projects ready for the technical team to deliver.
  • Seek to develop new business opportunities.
  • Promote the cross-selling across other divisions/offices.
  • Support with the development and training of junior staff.
  • Design and provide clear direction to Architectural Technologists for Auto CAD output on complex projects.
  • Project procurement through the RIBA work stages.
  • Advising clients on schemes and projects and determining requirements by carrying
  • out feasibility studies and budget costings.
  • Preparing scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects and specification of works.
  • Preparing documents for tender and advising on appointing contractors, designers, and procurement routes.
  • Contract administration.
  • Project management.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on budget and to schedule.
  • Experience and history of securing Capital funding from funding agencies.
  • Building Surveys recording the condition of existing buildings, identifying, and analysing defects, including proposals for repair.
  • Advising on the management and supervision of maintenance works of buildings including provision of PPM schedules.
  • Processing planning applications and advising clients on property legislation including DDA, health and safety and building regulations.
  • Conducting party wall procedures for both the building owner and the adjoining owner.
  • It would be beneficial if the candidate had experience in Professional Services work / Fire Risk Assessments / Party Wall surveying.

With proven managerial experience within a property consultancy delivering design and contract administration services and having held responsibility in the above areas, the candidate will be expected to have been providing services to the public sector, ideally the Education Sector.

The selected candidate will be well-rounded in all areas of managerial responsibility and building surveying with excellent communication skills. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an expanding team within a highly regarded practice.

MRICS / MCIOB

A clean Enhanced DBS Check will be required as a condition of employment due to the percentage of work the company conducts for Education Clients.
