Your new companyHays are delighted to be supporting our client in the social housing sector in recruiting a Building Surveyor to join their team on a permanent basis. It is an exciting time to join the organisation with their ambitious plans for further growth and development. Your new roleYour role will see you take responsibility for ensuring that residential properties are surveyed accordingly, focusing in either investment projects, structural projects, or disrepair. Key responsibilities involved in your role include:

  • Carry out inspections to ensure compliance with key social housing legislation and contract specifications.
  • Undertake surveys to identify and investigate the cause of a variety of issues, including structural damage, disrepair, and damage.
  • Support in the delivery of major works and investment programmes.
  • Produce detailed schedules of works, including all documentation required to source and procure materials.
  • Plan, manage and support with the coordination of health and safety on specific projects.
  • Identify and resolve complex issues.

What you'll need to succeedIn order to succeed in this role, you will ideally be qualified to degree level in Building Surveying, or be qualified by extensive experience in your field. You will have related experience in a similar position and will be able to confidently discuss this during pre-registration. You should have understanding of the key legislation within social housing and building control, including the Social Housing (Regulation) Act, PAS 2030 and PAS 2035.
