Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced Estimator to join our client's team in their Birmingham office. The ideal candidate will have experience working across a variety of projects, including refurbishments, fit-outs, new builds, and decarbonization works. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for managing the estimating process from initial tender through to project handover, ensuring that all tenders are completed to a high standard and within the set timeframes.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for tenders across a range of sectors including education (schools, colleges, universities), and blue light services.
Work on a variety of project types, including refurbishments, fit-outs, new builds, and decarbonization works.
Support the Estimating Manager with the management of tender bids for projects, including 2-stage tender processes and framework agreements.
Work collaboratively with the team to ensure tenders are submitted on time, usually within 4-8 weeks depending on project complexity.
Liaise with the North West office for tender management and workload allocation for the Midlands Estimator.
Maintain a high level of communication with all project stakeholders throughout the estimating process.
Ensure compliance with all company procedures and industry standards.
Key Requirements:
Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction industry, ideally with experience in the education and blue light sectors.
Intermediate to senior level experience with a few years working as an Estimator.
Strong working knowledge of estimating software, with experience using Conquest being highly desirable.
Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Additional Information:
This role will be based at the Birmingham office with one day working from home per week.
The Estimating Manager will allocate and manage workloads for the Midlands Estimator.
Tender values typically range from £750K to £6M.
The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating tenders for both public and private sector projects, including framework agreements.
