Role:Highways Technician
Location:Birmingham
Salary:Up to 45,000
We are seeking an enthusiastic Highways Technician with previous design experience (ideally in highway design) to join our clients' team and assist delivering development planning projects across the country. This will include:
Assisting Project Partner/Project Managers with delivery of design work.
Producing preliminary/concept Junction designs including priority junctions, ghost island arrangements, roundabouts.
Producing swept path analysis and vehicle tracking.
Input into the design of the highways aspects of the site layouts for new developments, including carriageways and footways geometry, and parking provision.
Interpreting traffic, speed, topographical survey data to inform highway designs.
Undertaking accompanied site visits with Project Managers.
Input into technical reports including site access appraisals, Stage 1 Road Safety Audit briefs and Designer's Responses.
Providing coaching / mentoring to junior members of the Design Team (subject to grade).
Experience in the use of Civil3D.
Basic knowledge of highway design guidance including MfS, DMRB, and LTN 1/20.
Knowledge of Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions and Traffic Signs Manual;
Knowledge of S278/S38 Agreements
Knowledge of SPONS Civil Engineering and Highway Works
Or are working towards professional qualifications, i.e. EngTech / IEng / CEng; and
ICE / CIHT / CILT membership.
The role provides an opportunity for candidates to be involved in a number of diverse development related transport projects, varying in scale and nature ensuring an interesting workload. Training is offered to all staff, including a bespoke mentoring programme and 2 professional membership subscriptions paid.
