Sonic Summary

info
  • The role involves managing and directing a team of experienced construction professionals across three Southern areas.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management and hold NEC accreditation.
  • The position offers a salary of £70,000 per annum, reflecting the level of responsibility and expertise required.
  • Key responsibilities include monitoring compliance with design specifications, managing non-conformance reports, and coordinating with project management teams.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in various software platforms are essential for success in this role.

The role includes:

  • Manage and provide direction to other experienced construction professionals within your team for the three Southern areas.
  • In addition to their own team, provides direction to Supervisors delegates (HS2 Construction Assurance Managers) to dynamically agree a risk based approach to review of construction deliverables including ITPs WPPs Material Acceptance Forms and other construction records.
  • Monitoring and reporting of compliance with accepted design and Works Information. Communicates with the Project Management team to raise programme and cost risk that result from any non-compliance. Suggests Early Warnings and inputs into Risk Reduction Meetings where required. Request NCRs and ensures notification of Defects where needed, in accordance with the Contract.
  • Management of NCR and Defects through the contractors digital assurance platform and HS2 commercial platform. Orchestrates resolution reviews with Project Management team and confirms appropriate implementation before closing. Monitors trends and ensure appropriate preventative action is taken as a result of NCRs. Seeks appropriate governance for resulting change where impact extends outside of Contractor's design.
  • Drives and input into Contractor's lessons learnt that result from non-conformance, instigating Quality HiPo investigations with Contractor's Quality lead for significant events to ensure lessons are learnt and can be distributed across the wider HS2 through HS2 assurance platform.
  • Communicating and coordinating the Contractor, their Lead Designer (effectively undertaking much of the traditional NEC Supervisor's role) and HS2 discipline experts to seek appropriate technical input to change and construction clarifications, ensuring appropriate HS2 governance.
  • Monitoring performance of the Lead designer with respect to the independent assurance activities (site inspections/documentation and record reviews the contract requires).
  • Writing/updating of HS2 contract level processes to document the above approaches. Briefing of these processes to HS2 and the wider project.
  • Undertaking inspections in accordance with ITPs and established risk based approach to add to (although less emphasis on this than other areas as the WI mandates this is predominantly a role performed by the Lead designer) or verify Lead designer's independent risk based assurance

Required skills are:

  • NEC accreditation
  • Technical/construction background
  • Management experience
  • Computer literacy - ability to use a variety of software platforms - Office, Power BI, digital assurance/EDMS platforms
  • Good communication and soft skills - non-confrontational, pragmatic.
