An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join a leading IT consultancy based in Birmingham. This role is pivotal to the company’s mission of delivering robust and innovative technological solutions for its diverse client base.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in managing on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure, driving cloud migration initiatives, and implementing best-in-class security practices. This is a hands-on position that blends strategic planning with day-to-day operational responsibilities, offering the chance to work on a wide variety of projects and cutting-edge technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the technical team to shape the roadmap for on-premise and cloud ecosystems, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Develop and maintain detailed system documentation and Standard Operating Procedures for hybrid and cloud environments.
- Oversee the expansion into Microsoft Azure infrastructure, manage Office 365 environments, and ensure seamless integration and top-notch performance.
- Enforce IT compliance, ISO27001, and Cyber Essentials Plus standards, while proactively addressing emerging security risks.
- Conduct routine infrastructure checks, resolve issues, and optimise performance to meet SLAs.
- Monitor system capacity and implement scalable solutions to enhance uptime and efficiency.
- Work with the Change and Release teams to deliver secure and cost-effective updates and enhancements.
- Share expertise with internal teams, provide training, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Continuously analyse workflows and recommend innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft SCCM, Windows Server (2012 R2, 2016), and Office 365.
- Expertise in Active Directory, MS SQL HA, Clustering, and VMware/Hyper-V.
- Strong knowledge of identity protocols such as AD/Azure AD.
- Hands-on experience with scripting tools like PowerShell.
- Solid understanding of IT compliance, risk management, and security best practices.
