Customer Engagement Levy Consultant

Hybrid working 3 days per week, office based in Birmingham City Centre

Job Summary

This is an exciting time for Babington as we evolve our Customer Engagement strategy and structure to ensure we’re in the best shape for the future.

You’ll work closely with the Senior Partnership and Performance Manager and the wider Customer Engagement team to nurture Babington’s existing relationships while identifying, engaging, and securing new business opportunities within the SME and charity sectors, driving our continued growth. 

We are looking for a seasoned sales professional with a strong background in funded learning who can adopt a consultative, solution-based approach to sales. Your goal will be to become a ‘trusted advisor’ to employers, maximizing the uptake of the BT Group Apprenticeship Fund while also supporting Babington’s broader Apprenticeship and Commercial Training revenue targets.

Required Competencies and Responsibilities

  • Customer Relationship Building: You will be responsible for and therefore require proven experience building robust relationships and will be responsible for transitioning this experience to allow you to become our customers ‘trusted advisor.’ You will have a depth of understanding of all Babington programmes and also those of our Training Provider network and will be confident to recommend the appropriate solutions which meet the customer's needs and generate solid pipeline of business.
  • Customer Retention: You will be adept at retaining existing customers by using effective questioning, insight, and relationship management techniques.  By understanding your customers challenges and needs, you will work closely with them to identify any emerging future needs.
  • Partner Relationship Building: You will proactively build and maintain relationships with key partner organisations that support SMEs, including business networks, industry associations, and local enterprise groups. By promoting the BT Group Apprenticeship Fund within these networks, you will help raise awareness and drive engagement with eligible businesses.
  • New Business Acquisition: You will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, using a range of techniques including social media outreach, phone calls and engage with new potential customers to identify and secure new business opportunities.  Your ability to engage with prospects through multiple channels will be key to building and maintaining strong client relationships, driving both immediate and long-term growth for Babington.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of consistently meeting or exceeding targets & KPI's.
  • Minimum of 12 months’ proven experience managing customer accounts, with the responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction and account growth.
  • Minimum of 12 months’ proven work experience with the ability to demonstrate competence in business development or sales.
  • Minimum of 12 months previous experience communicating, establishing, engaging and influencing a wide set of key customer stakeholders.
  • A good understanding of the UK apprenticeship landscape, including funding, standards, and regulatory requirements. 
  • In-depth knowledge and working experience of funded learning and be competent across the portfolio of available Babington apprenticeship programmes including their benefits and differentiators.
  • Proficient in gaining insights, understanding commercial levers and analysing the SME market to enable you to explore and develop potential business opportunities
