Job Overview:

The Electrical Superintendent is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating all electrical construction activities on-site. This role involves managing a team of electrical supervisors and electricians, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. The Electrical Superintendent will also play a crucial role in workforce development, focusing on training and professional growth to enhance the teams capabilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Plan, schedule, and coordinate electrical work activities well in advance to ensure efficient workflow.
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trade superintendents to align electrical work with overall project timelines.
    • Develop detailed work plans and delegate tasks to supervisors and electricians.
    • Ensure all materials, tools, and equipment are available to meet project deadlines.
  2. Team Management:
    • Lead and manage a team of electrical supervisors and electricians, providing clear direction and support.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate project goals, expectations, and any changes to the work plan.
    • Monitor team performance, providing feedback and coaching to ensure high productivity and quality workmanship.
    • Address any issues or conflicts that arise on-site, ensuring a positive and collaborative working environment.
  3. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant health and safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, addressing any non-compliance immediately.
    • Promote a strong safety culture on-site, leading by example and ensuring that all team members follow safety protocols.
    • Coordinate with safety officers to implement site-specific safety plans and procedures.
  4. Quality Control:
    • Ensure all electrical installations meet the required quality standards and specifications.
    • Conduct regular inspections to verify the quality of work and address any issues promptly.
    • Work closely with the quality control team to ensure adherence to project specifications and standards.
    • Implement corrective actions when necessary to rectify any deviations from the project plan.
  5. Workforce Development:
    • Identify training and development needs within the team and coordinate relevant training programs.
    • Mentor and support the professional development of supervisors and electricians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Work with HR to develop career progression pathways for the electrical workforce.
    • Encourage the adoption of new technologies and techniques to enhance the teams capabilities.
  6. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and upcoming milestones.
    • Maintain accurate records of work activities, including timesheets, material usage, and safety inspections.
    • Assist in the preparation of risk assessments, method statements, and other necessary documentation.


Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • 2391 Inspection and Testing certification (or equivalent).
  • ECS Gold Card holder.
  • IPAF 3a/3b certification.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in SharePoint and Excel.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory role within the electrical construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Experience with modern construction management software.

Working Conditions:

  • The role is primarily site-based with regular visits to various project locations.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet project deadlines.

Salary:
£34.00 -35.00ph / PAYE
