We are currently recruiting an experienced Maintenance Manager (Mechanical bias) to join the engineering team at a low-tier COMAH manufacturing site in the Midlands.

Our client is an award winning, family-owned business who have a strong presence in a wide range of sectors including pharmaceutical, flavours and fragrance, personal care and agrochemical to name a few.

THE ROLE

As Mechanical Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership of the mechanical engineering team ensuring the safe maintenance of plant and equipment and maximum plant output.

Key responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of the mechanical maintenance team and contractors ensuring all maintenance work is conducted to the highest HSE standards
  • Set departmental KPI's, drive performance and develop skills of maintenance team
  • Assess maintenance needs across site and implement /develop a robust planned maintenance strategy
  • Co-ordinate and plan for maintenance shutdowns
  • Investigate plant failures and implement prevention techniques
  • Motivate and develop a small team of fitters
  • Provide 'hands on' technical support where necessary
  • Ensure any modifications to plant and equipment meet engineering standards and legislative requirements
  • Promote a safe operating environment ensuring all work meets legal and statutory requirements

Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification, min HNC
  • Min 10 years maintenance experience in either chemical manufacturing or a med-heavy industrial environment
  • Proven experience of supervising or managing a maintenance team
  • Knowledge/experience using a CMMS to plan maintenance
  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant HSE standards and legislation
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Improvement mind-set
  • A strong, technical engineer who is able to demonstrate excellent leadership and project management capabilities
