A leading national consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to join their team, working on a range of exciting projects across the Midlands. This role offers an exceptionally flexible remote/hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to balance working from home with project needs across the region.

The position also offers huge potential to take over as partner within a couple of years.

The Principal Designer Role

As the Principal Designer, you will take a lead role in ensuring CDM compliance and integrating health and safety into the design and construction process across a variety of projects. With a diverse portfolio of projects in sectors including residential, commercial, healthcare, and education, this is an ideal opportunity to make a significant impact within a highly respected national firm.

Principal Designer Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Principal Designer duties in accordance with CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Conduct thorough design risk assessments and hazard elimination strategies.
  • Provide expert CDM advice and guidance to clients, contractors, and design teams.
  • Attend site inspections and audits to monitor compliance and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and project stakeholders.
  • Offer mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

The Principal Designer

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Professional accreditation from APS (AaPS, IMaPS, or CMaPS).
  • CertIOSH, or working towards it, is highly desirable.
  • 5+ years' experience as a Principal Designer or similar role in construction.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and health and safety best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously with a flexible, remote-based contract.
