Health & Safety Manager

Birmingham

£62-68,000 per annum + up to 15% performance-based bonus, 36 hour working week, 25 days annual leave + bank holidays

The Company

Our client is a leading medium-heavy industrial manufacturing organisation covering 40 countries with over 500 operations. Within the UK, they have over 100 locations with a revenue of more than £500 million. They are currently heavily investing in machinery upgrades, and promoting individual growth by supporting in training and qualifications, with progression opportunities available throughout the various layers of their group.

The leadership team are holding safety as a top value for the organisation, and as a result they are looking to recruit a Health & Safety Manager with immediate effect.

The Role

The role of Health & Safety Manager will involve progressing the existing safety improvement plan and developing a new safety improvement plan for the following year, while establishing the safety cultural development of the site and wider team. This role will be perfect for anyone who thrives in challenging non-conformance, with leadership encouraging an active presence on the floor. As part of the organisations development journey there is opportunity to have a meaningful impact on how the site progresses moving forward:

  • Responsibility for Compliance, Health & Safety and Environmental for the entire site, delivering on agreed CAPEX budgets.
  • Conducting full floor walks, ensuring promotion of a safety-focused culture and management of compliance.
  • KPI reporting on total incident rates, safety observations, near miss and systems certifications.
  • Communicating directly with site Senior Leadership Team and Directors regarding changes at a site level
  • Supporting in maintaining all ISO accreditations, including ISO45001, ISO14001, and ISO5001.
  • Managing and developing a Compliance Assistant who directly reports into this position.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application for this Health & Safety Manager role you will need:

  • Experience managing the Compliance, Health & Safety, and Environmental policies within the medium-heavy industry.
  • Passionate about promoting safety cultural development and compliance, with an interest in supporting in the development journey of the site.
  • Excellent people management and communication skills, with the ability to influence site-wide culture.
  • Driven by facts and statistics, and able to communicate findings effectively with senior management.
  • Qualification in NEBOSH and IOSH would be beneficial, but full training will also be provided.
