Are you passionate about health, safety, and sustainability? Do you thrive in dynamic infrastructure environments? Were seeking aHealth, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Managerto lead HSE initiatives across projects in the Northern Region. This is a pivotal role in driving a culture of safety, collaboration, and innovation across critical infrastructure projects.

The Role:
As the HSE Manager, you will:

Health:

  • Champion and implement the health and wellbeing aspects of the organisations Safe, Sustainable, and Wellbeing (SSW) Strategy.
  • Deliver project-specific health training, coaching, and monitoring to support employees and contractors.
  • Provide expert advice on health matters, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.

Safety:

  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and reviews of work packages, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Lead on incident reporting, investigations, and safety alerts, ensuring lessons learned are implemented.
  • Develop and maintain project-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Plans (HASEMPs).
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and deliver safety training tailored to project requirements.

Environment:

  • Drive the sustainability agenda in line with the organisations environmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform monthly environmental audits and ensure continuous improvement actions are implemented.
  • Provide guidance on achieving environmental compliance with relevant standards.

Work Winning and Mobilization:

  • Support the business in bidding for and mobilising new contracts.
  • Develop key project documentation, KPIs, and stakeholder engagement plans during project start-up phases.

About You:
You will bring:

Experience:

  • Demonstrable track record as an HSE Manager in Tier 1 or Tier 2 organisations.
  • Significant experience in rail, power, tunnelling, or energy sectors, with at least five years in a construction-based HSE role.
  • Knowledge and implementation of ISO45001, ISO14001, and ISO9001 standards

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving and auditing skills with a solution-driven mindset.
  • Ability to interpret and convey health and safety legislation pragmatically.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to travel to project sites, including occasional night and weekend shifts.

Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or NCRQ Diploma (or working towards).
  • IOSH-certified membership; chartered level is desirable.
  • Internal Auditor qualification for ISO45001 (essential), Lead Auditor certification preferred.
