Responsible directly for:Kitchen Assistant.
Job purpose:to provide a cooked meal each day, which will be as per the agreed menu and served on time while maintaining the required hygiene standards.
Main duties
1)To open and close the kitchen each day and ensure that hygiene standards are maintained at all times. Also daily complete the temperature records and Kitchen Management Folder including allergy documentation.
2)To prepare a cooked meal each day which must be of a high nutritional value, as per our agreed menu, served on time and with waste kept to the minimum.
3)Ensure that all Health & Safety and hygiene procedures are complied with including:-
a)The First Aid box is fully stocked
b)All accidents are recorded and reported to your line manager
c)Fire procedures are displayed and notified to anyone who may assist in the kitchen/ dining room.
d)Any concerns are immediately reported.
e)Cleanliness / hygiene standards are maintained at all times through a clean as you go procedure with all designated duties being completed on time.
f) Ensure clean and well maintained protective clothing is worn in thekitchen.
4)Complete weekly catering stock checks and arrange for the ordering of fresh supplies while ensuring that stock is rotated and that any items past their use by date are disposed of that day.
5)Actively encourage comments on the catering service provided and whenever possible and in consultation with senior staff attempt to meet any special dietary needs.
6)Liaise with management to resolve any problems and maintain a Best Value high quality service including attending monthly catering meetings.
