DEBT RECOVERY SUPERVISOR / SENIOR PARALEGAL

BIRMINGHAM / HYBRID

£30K - £38K

Douglas Scott are on the look out for an excellent and proactive and self-motivated Debt Recovery Supervisor join our leading TOP 100 client. The role will be based at their Birmingham office with flexible hybrid working option.

This role is perfect for a Senior Paralegal (with 3+ years in Debt Recovery, as a minimum) who has full capabilities of deputising the Debt Recovery Manager.

The Role:

  • Supervising the day to day work of the team
  • Deputising for the Senior Debt Recovery Manager
  • Managing aspects of files managed and undertaking routine legal tasks.
  • Undertaking legal processes, such as routine file management including file opening and billing
  • Drafting legal documents using appropriate precedents and templates
  • Undertaking legal research, using appropriate methods and sourcing, presenting the results in an accurate and timely manner
  • Provide legal support to the designated senior lawyer and act as a legal resource providing help where required
  • Take an active role with the Paralegal and Trainee (PT) group and attend networking events or careers fairs to provide appropriate support as required
  • Take an active part in promoting the firm through Social media channels such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • Ensure all work complies with risk management policies and procedures, in line with GDPR.

The Candidate:

  • A strong understanding of the debt recovery process (minimum 3+ years experience required)
  • Experience of issuing claims to the Courts
  • Experience of supervising a team is desirable, but not essential.
  • Excellent organisational capability with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive self-starter who demonstrates a willingness to learn and the ability to manage a growing workload
  • Client service focussed
  • Strong IT skills with accurate typing capability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team and to offer support to peers where required
