Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Dance Teacher to develop and deliver engaging dance instruction for students at various grade levels. This position may involve creating lesson plans, choreographing performances, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where students can explore their creativity and build their confidence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multiple dance styles and a passion for teaching young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver dance lessons that accommodate different age groups and skill levels.
  • Teach various dance techniques, focusing on movement, rhythm, expression, and technique.
  • Create choreography for school events, assemblies, and annual performances.
  • Encourage students' artistic growth and self-expression through dance.
  • Provide constructive feedback, promoting skill development and confidence.
  • Collaborate with school staff for interdisciplinary projects and special events.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during classes and performances.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports all students.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Education, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching dance, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Proficiency in various dance styles (e.g., ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with students of all ages.
  • Patience, empathy, and commitment to student growth.
  • Teaching certification or relevant dance qualifications are a plus.
  • Willingness to participate in school events, performances, and extracurricular activities.

About the school:

We can offer you paid work in secondary schools across the Dudley and surrounding area supporting pupils. This role can either be full or part-time dependant on your circumstances.

About you:

  • Able to obtain suitable references and a valid DBS check*
  • Have recent experience working with children or young people
  • Have a warm and friendly nature to be able to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Have a creative arts background that you can incorporate into schools

*All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
