We are seeking a dedicated ADHD Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with ADHD and additional needs. This role involves delivering interventions, implementing behaviour management strategies, and working closely with staff and external agencies to ensure the pupil's academic and social progress. The role is offered on a long-term basis with the potential to become permanent for the ideal candidate.

What we are looking for:

  • Qualifications: Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent) desirable.
  • Experience: Previous experience supporting children with ADHD and associated behavioural or learning needs.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of ADHD and strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
    • Experience with behaviour management techniques, including de-escalation and emotion coaching.
    • Knowledge of the primary curriculum and ability to adapt learning for pupils with SEN.
    • Training or experience in Attachment and Trauma and Emotion Coaching (e.g., ELSA or equivalent).
    • Ability to work both 1:1 and within a classroom setting to support social and academic development.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with ADHD, helping them engage in learning and develop self-regulation skills.
  • Implement behaviour strategies and structured routines to promote focus and positive interactions.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning activities and monitor progress.
  • Use emotion coaching techniques to support the child's wellbeing and resilience.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, staff, and external professionals.
  • Support social and play interactions during break and lunchtime to encourage positive peer relationships.
