Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated Interventions Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Handsworth. This rewarding role focuses on delivering targeted interventions to support both SEN and non-SEN pupils in achieving their full potential. Working in small groups and 1:1 settings, you will play a key role in enhancing academic progress, social development, and emotional well-being. This full-time position offers long-term stability, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

As part of this role, you will be expected to:

  • Adapt and create learning materials to suit the diverse needs of pupils, particularly those with SEN
  • Assist in lesson planning, resource organisation, and maintaining a structured learning environment
  • Deliver targeted interventions for literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation, ensuring inclusivity for SEN and non-SEN pupils
  • Provide one-to-one support and small group sessions to help children develop key skills
  • Use structured routines, sensory strategies, and positive reinforcement to encourage engagement
  • Nurture a positive and inclusive environment, promoting social interaction and confidence-building

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent degree
  • Minimum one year of experience supporting primary pupils
  • Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum is desirable
  • Experience delivering effective phonics interventions in both group and one-to-one settings
