SEMH Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant for a Primary School in Yardley, to provide one-on-one support for a Year 5 pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The ideal candidate will have a nurturing, caring nature, with a commitment to helping children achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored support to a Year 5 pupil with SEMH needs. Assist with both academic and emotional support throughout the school day. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement personalised learning strategies. Create a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment. Encourage social skills and positive behaviour both inside and outside the classroom. Support the pupil in developing self-regulation and confidence in their learning. Ideal Candidate: Experience working with children, preferably those with SEMH or additional needs. A nurturing and patient approach, with the ability to build rapport quickly. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A positive and proactive attitude toward supporting student development. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN training) are desirable but not essential. A commitment to supporting the welfare and safeguarding of children. SEN Teaching Assistant Contract/Position Details Location -Yardley, Birmingham Position - SEMH Teaching Assistant Type of work - 1:1 SEN Support - Year 5 Start date - ASAP Likely Duration - Ongoing long-term Position end date - July 2024 Contract type - Temporary Full-time/Part-time - Part-time Minimum rate of pay - GBP85 Hours - 8:30 - 3:30(term time only) Supply TA Experience, Training, and Qualifications It is essential that you have SEN Teaching assistant experience, along with a relevant qualification Level 2 or Level 3 Qualification in Childcare/TA Up-to-date Safeguarding training is imperative; you can undertake a free course with Prospero Teaching if you have not completed a Safeguarding course in the last 12 months. Possess an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application. Provide two professional child-related references.
