You need to have experience working with children and ideally you will have experience working with learning disabilities such as autism, Asperger's, downs syndrome, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.The hours will be 8:30-3:45pm and you need to be flexible working in a variety of settings and with a host of children with different needs. Some may be nonverbal, and you may have to do some personal care, knowledge of Makaton or PECS would be advantageous.If you are a caring, friendly and patient individual seeking to gain experience within the special needs sector then this could be just the kind of role you're looking for. A positive can- do attitude and resilience would make you a great teaching assistant.
