  • Contract: Long-Term Temp to Perm

LTF Recruitment is seeking a proactive teaching assistant to support a Year 1 class at a welcoming primary school in Northfield. This long-term role has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Support pupils in developing foundational skills in phonics, reading, writing, and maths.
  • Encourage independence and readiness for learning among Year 1 pupils.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the teacher and parents as required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and manage challenging situations in line with school policies.
  • Provide emotional and social support to build confidence and self-esteem in pupils.
  • Supervise pupils during break times, excursions, and school activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to support SEN or EAL pupils.

Candidate Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a primary school.
  • Experience supporting children with SEN and managing challenging behaviour.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies.
