Reed Further Education are working with an education provider in Longbridge, Birmingham who are looking for a teaching assistant on a temporary ongoing basis. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting students with special education need and disabilities and/or NEET (not in employment, education or training).Job Title: Teaching AssistantPosition: Mon to Thurs - 9am - 3:30pm and Fri 9am-2:30pmRole type: Temporary OngoingLocation: Longbridge, BirminghamRate: £12.83p/h including holiday payResponsibilities:

  • Support, supervise, and report on the learning and holistic development of individuals or small groups of students.
  • Provide on course support (e.g., general in lesson support, note taking, assistance with practical tasks).
  • Offer off course support (e.g, helping students move safely, encouraging integration into college activities).
  • Liaising with teaching staff and other relevant personnel to cater to individual student needs.
  • Assisting with the development of student independence and involvement in College activities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 2 qualification as a Teaching Assistant - desirable
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English & Maths
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour
  • Experience working with adults/teenagers or children with special education needs
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Reed Compliance
