Salary: £25,000-£30,000

We are delighted to partner with an award-winning, UK-based property consultancy seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Ecologists to join their expanding Ecology team in Birmingham. With positions available at various levels, this is a fantastic opportunity to advance your career by working on a diverse range of projects across the UK.

Ecologist Role:

As an Ecologist, you will collaborate closely with an integrated ecology and planning team, contributing to impactful developments nationwide. The role offers a balanced mix of office-based duties and fieldwork, providing a dynamic and engaging work environment. You will have the opportunity to work from our offices in Birmingham, Worcester, or Nottingham, as well as remotely from your home location. Please note that fieldwork may require occasional overnight stays, with all expenses fully covered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field Surveys: Organise, support, and conduct a variety of ecological field surveys, including protected species surveys for newts, bats, and badgers.
  • Desk Studies: Perform comprehensive desk-based research by gathering, reviewing, and assessing existing ecological data to support project development.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Develop and implement effective in-field data collection techniques and accurately analyse and report findings.
  • Botanical Assessments: Utilise and expand your botanical skills, particularly in relation to FISC qualifications, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), and habitat management practices.
  • Project Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality ecological assessments and recommendations.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and passion for ecology and environmental conservation.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.

Desirable:

  • Experience conducting ecological surveys and assessments.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in using ecological data analysis tools and software.
