Your new company

A vibrant primary school in south Birmingham, B12 who are dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for their students are seeking a compassionate and experienced Pastoral Manager to join our team on an interim basis to cover maternity leave.

Your new role

Key Responsibilities include but not restricted to:

  • Provide support and advice to students in line with promoting their social care and personal development with respect to learning and health and safety
  • Provide general student support e.g. lost items, upsets
  • Monitor attendance at detention - use the group call system to inform parents
  • Follow-up attendance matters, including agreed target students and contact or meeting with parents
  • Collect and collate statements relating to incidents, following up directly when appropriate
  • Contribute to pastoral support plans
  • Be the first point of contact for parents, being responsible for and dealing with issues when appropriate and referring to other staff for action
  • Ensure contact is made to parents whenever incidents are dealt with - e.g. bullying, racial incident files
  • Produce appropriate records of incidents dealt with - e.g. bullying, racial incident files

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in a pastoral or similar role within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.
