About the Role:
Morson is seeking a dynamic Principal/Lead Overhead Line Engineer to join a leading infrastructure team and take their career to the next level. In this role, you will provide technical leadership to overhead lines teams, supporting transmission projects up to 400kV. Your expertise will guide the design, implementation, and management of complex multi-discipline projects for a variety of clients. As the Principal/Lead Overhead Line Engineer, you will take ownership of project scope, resourcing, and delivery while also playing a crucial role in client interactions and problem-solving. This exciting opportunity involves working with industry leaders on a variety of high-impact infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and engineering of overhead lines on complex transmission projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Oversee project scope, resourcing, and client management for overhead line works.
  • Provide expert technical guidance throughout project delivery, including statutory planning and public consultation.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, evaluations, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Utilise PLS-CADD modelling, structural analysis, and other design tools for precise line routing, sag-tension calculations, and conductor selection.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised electrical engineering institution (e.g., IET).
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in overhead line engineering up to 400kV.
  • Project experience with transmission system operators such as National Grid, SSE, and SPT.
  • Proven ability in delivering upgrading work, such as utilising high-temperature low-sag conductors.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience with transmission system operators' standards and regulations.
  • Experience with high-temperature low-sag conductors and advanced conductor selection.
