Job Summary: The Employee Relations Advisor will play a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment at one of the largest colleges in Birmingham. This position involves advising and supporting staff on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with college policies and employment laws, and promoting effective communication and conflict resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance and support to staff on employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to college policies, procedures, and employment laws. Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate disputes between employees and facilitate effective communication to resolve conflicts.
  • Training and Development: Conduct training sessions on employee relations topics, such as conflict resolution, communication skills, and workplace ethics.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of employee relations cases and ensure confidentiality.
  • Advisory Role: Serve as a trusted advisor to management and staff on employee relations matters.
  • Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints and grievances, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on employee relations activities and trends for senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee relations or human resources.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Conflict resolution and mediation skills.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:
