Astute's Renewables team is exclusively partnering with a dynamic and fast-growing organisation leading the rollout of Electric Vehicle infrastructure and low-carbon energy projects across the UK to recruit a Senior Authorised Person. The client has headquarters in Swindon but will be field-based.

The strategically important Senior Authorised Person comes with a salary of up to 55,000 (OT 75,000), enhanced pension contributions, and private medical benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will:

  • Oversee the operational delivery of HV and LV installations for major EV, renewables, and industrial and commercial (I&C) projects.
  • Manage and supervise all site personnel working on HV and LV networks.
  • Ensure electricity networks are installed safely, professionally, and to a high standard, following company safe working practices.
  • Assist in the testing and commissioning of HV/LV distribution systems.
  • Plan and coordinate projects and fault response callouts.
  • Train and develop junior team members to progress as LV or HV Authorised Persons (APs).
  • Conduct audits, produce reports, and manage project budgets to ensure team efficiency.
  • Act as a Standby Engineer for the organisation's extensive O&M portfolio, encompassing over 2,000 sites nationwide.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Authorisation to work on networks up to 33kV (extensive 11kV experience will also be considered), including permit-to-work certifications.
  • Proven track record of undertaking site-specific risk assessments, creating RAMS, and issuing/cancelling safety documents.
  • Competence in network operations under instruction from Network Control Engineers.
  • Familiarity with local network anomalies and ensuring correct phase rotation.
  • Experience using productivity and collaboration software such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Full UK driving licence (maximum of 3 points).
  • CSCS card (or affiliated scheme).
