Executive Assistant to Managing Director - International Consultancy (Birmingham)

Are you an experienced, proactive, and highly organised Executive Assistant looking for an opportunity to make a significant impact? Our client, a leading international consultancy, is seeking a driven individual to provide high-level support to their Managing Director (MD), a well-established leader known for his strategic vision and industry expertise. This is a unique role that combines executive support with strategic involvement, office management, and high-level project coordination.

In this pivotal position, you will serve as the right-hand to the Managing Director, ensuring that his time is maximised and his day-to-day operations run seamlessly. You will also be responsible for the smooth running of the Birmingham office, acting as a key point of contact within the business and taking on a variety of responsibilities beyond the typical Executive Assistant remit.

Key duties will include:

  • Executive Support & Diary Management: You will expertly manage the MD’s busy and ever-changing diary, scheduling meetings with both internal teams and high-profile external stakeholders. You will anticipate needs, ensuring the MD is fully prepared for all engagements, and make travel arrangements for both domestic and international trips.
  • High-level Presentations & Document Preparation: You will create, format, and polish executive-level presentations, board reports, and briefing papers for internal and external use. Your attention to detail and ability to present complex information in a visually compelling way will be critical.
  • Numerical Analysis & Reporting: You will be responsible for analysing financial and business data, generating reports that provide key insights and support the MD in making informed strategic decisions. A strong understanding of numbers and the ability to work with spreadsheets and financial documents is essential.
  • Research & Insights: You will conduct in-depth research into new markets, competitors, and industry trends, providing the MD with well-structured insights to support business growth and strategic planning.
  • Project Management & Office Operations: You will oversee key internal projects, tracking progress and ensuring timely completion. Additionally, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Birmingham office, managing resources, liaising with vendors, and ensuring an efficient, professional environment.
  • Liaison & Communication: Acting as a gatekeeper and first point of contact for the MD, you will communicate confidently and effectively with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders, maintaining professionalism and discretion at all times.

The successful applicant will be an experienced Executive Assistant with a proven track record of supporting senior executives in a fast-paced, corporate environment. Applicants must be:

  • Degree-educated, with a solid academic foundation that demonstrates analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Highly experienced in providing executive-level support, particularly at MD or CEO level.
  • Skilled in numerical analysis, with the ability to interpret data, create reports, and make well-informed recommendations.
  • Adept at preparing high-quality presentations, with strong attention to detail and an eye for visual design.
  • A natural project manager, capable of juggling multiple responsibilities, working to tight deadlines, and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Corporate experience is essential - our client is looking for someone who is comfortable working in a professional, fast-moving business environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation and manage confidential information with discretion.
