Are you a qualified accountant looking to make an impact in a dynamic, large scale organisation? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Finance Manager to join a forward-thinking team, providing financial and commercial support to key stakeholders.
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, this role is integral in managing a range of stakeholders and ensuring best practice is followed. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving service levels, enhancing cost-effectiveness, and driving value through proactive business partnering.
The Assistant Finance Manager will be based in South Birmingham on a hybrid basis, with a salary up to 48,000 + bonus.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Support:
Act as a trusted business partner to financial and non-financial stakeholders, ensuring strong commercial and operational decision-making.
Attend and contribute to site and client meetings, providing valuable financial insight.
Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and present key findings to support business decisions.
Assess financial risks and opportunities associated with contracts and overall business performance.
Ensure robust balance sheet management, identifying risks and opportunities.
Performance & Financial Analysis:
Provide in-depth analysis of key business reports, including month-end reviews, client reports, budgets, and cash analysis.
Train operational teams to understand and utilise financial reports to improve performance.
Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews, escalating significant risks or opportunities to senior stakeholders.
Drive working capital improvements through accurate billing and effective debt management.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes, consolidating data and preparing presentations for senior stakeholders.
Monitor and challenge initiative delivery plans, ensuring targets are met and risks are addressed.
Assist in client tenders, contract negotiations, and capital expenditure appraisals.
Ensure smooth financial mobilisation of new contracts by aligning operational and financial requirements.
Uphold health and safety standards, reporting incidents via company procedures.
Stakeholder & Team Management:
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted financial advisor.
Work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive working environment.
Support and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Candidate Profile
Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
Experience in a large organisation
Strong management accounting skills, including financial reporting and commercial decision support.
Analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
Proven experience in business partnering, working with non-finance stakeholders to enhance financial performance.
