Our client is recruiting for a Director of Finance to join them on an initial 6 month contract, likely to be extended for another 6 months. This is a full time position (35+ hours per week) that offers hybrid working (2-3 days working from home) and is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in financial management and strategic planning, particularly within a council or public sector environment. This role offers a unique blend of strategic influence and hands-on financial oversight, allowing you to impact both the day-to-day and long-term directions of the Council.

Director of Finance (Deputy S151) - About The Role

  • Strategic and Operational Leadership: You’ll be a key player in directing operations and working closely with the Director to shape and implement the Council’s strategic development plans.
  • Financial Oversight: A major aspect of your role will involve ensuring the Council’s financial integrity, applying high standards of financial control, and contributing to policy and decision-making.

The successful Director of Finance (Deputy S151) will have/be:

  • Ideally, you will have a solid background in financial control and operational management, especially within a public sector or council setting.
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and leadership skills are essential, along with a collaborative approach.
