Summary

We are representing a specialist real estate investor and developer who focus on acquiring a range of residential and commercial assets in need of refurbishment alongside their residential development function.

They are looking for a Finance Manager to join their team based in Birmingham looking after the Shopping Centre Finance Operations. This role will focus on the accuracy of the accounts for both the shopping centres and the wider group as well as working closely with the wider Finance and Centre Management Teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly in the financial systems and banks are reconciled.
  • Month-End Close: Manage the month-end closing process, including balance sheet reconciliations, profit and loss accounts, and ensuring financial reports are submitted on time.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports for senior management, outlining the financial health of the shopping centre, including income statements, cash flow reports, and balance sheets.
  • Accounts Receivable: Oversee the invoicing process for tenants and other stakeholders, ensuring all amounts due are billed and collected in a timely manner.
  • Accounts Payable: Ensure that all supplier invoices are processed accurately and in a timely fashion, managing vendor relationships and ensuring all due payments are met.
  • Payment Runs: Handle regular payment runs for both suppliers and other payable accounts, ensuring payments are processed efficiently and in line with company policy.
  • Tenant Collections: Monitor and manage tenant accounts, ensuring that rents and other payments are collected on time. Follow up on overdue accounts and implement credit control measures where necessary.
  • Aged Debtor Management: Produce aged debtor reports and liaise with tenants to resolve overdue payments, working with the legal team where necessary to escalate collection procedures.
  • Annual Budget Preparation: Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for the shopping centre, working with the centre manager and group finance team to ensure accurate financial planning.
  • Audits: Support the preparation of audit files and provide information as required for both internal and external audits.
  • Tax and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations, including VAT returns and any other financial obligations.
  • Internal Communication: Work closely with the centre management team and group finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • External Relationships: Manage relationships with external stakeholders, such as auditors, banks, investors and suppliers, ensuring smooth financial operations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in Financial Management roles
  • Real estate experience - ideally commercial, but residential accepted
  • Strong credit control experience
  • Ability and experience analysing financial data
