I am currently partnering with an international law firm in Birmingham City Centre who are looking to recruit a candidate on a 12 month contract for a Financial Reporting Manager post within the team. The role is really varied and will focus on year end for the first 4 months of the role as a priority during a busy period, before moving onto month end group management accounts and group budgeting for the business. The business is well established with offices across the globe, in a fast paced professional services business in the heart of the City.

The position is to cover a maternity cover for a great member of the team, you will be in charge of the statutory reporting for UK, Hong Kong, and Canada during the busiest time of the year for the business. Alongside you will manage a part qualified team of two and report into a Group Financial Controller and Head of Finance within a great environment.

  • Have knowledge / understanding of latest accounting standards, balanced with some key management accounts and budgeting skills.
  • Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA candidate) with a confident communication style, preferably having had exposure to dealing with senior managers in a professional services business. The ideal candidate would have a varied background, potentially contracted in many roles to gain experience of all areas of finance.
  • Have demonstrable organisation skills, allowing you to easily balance concurrent projects and a busy workload, effectively prioritising duties for the benefit of the business.
  • Be a self-starter with tangible initiative - the role will need a proactive person who can initiate and manage their own priorities / workload in order to be successful along with delegate to your team.
