Alexander Daniels Credit Division are please to be recruiting for a Senior Credit Risk Manager on behalf of our client who operates within the insurance sector. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in credit risk analysis, particularly in investment-grade credit, high yield, and private credit markets. The successful candidate will be expected to grow out the credit risk team. Knowledge of insurance regulations is essential.

Please note that this role is a hybrid role with the requirement to go into the Birmingham or London office once a week.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain effective credit risk appetites, risk limits, and risk indicators.
  • Monitor portfolio credit risk against established risk appetites.
  • Coordinate credit risk management across multiple local entities and at the Group level.
  • Review and enhance internal controls related to credit risk management.
  • Oversee strategic asset allocation implementation in line with the prudent person principle.
  • Develop and contribute to internal credit ratings assessments.
  • Identify key credit risk drivers and mitigants.
  • Ensure effective escalation to the board.

The Ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in fundamental credit risk management and insurance risk management.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable insurance regulations (e.g., Solvency II, BMA).
  • Enthusiasm for building and leading processes.
  • Proficiency in using technology and models, with the ability to synthesize data into key risk drivers.
  • Degree or postgraduate education in a numerical subject.
  • Over 5 years of experience in an insurance company, credit rating agency, bank, or insurance solutions asset management.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform asset, sector, and thematic risk deep dives on the portfolio.
  • Experience preparing or contributing to Group board risk committee memos.
  • Leadership in asset risk due diligence for significant M&A, reinsurance, and TRT transactions.
